Thanks to Kathy for letting us stay at her house for the half marathon, we had a great time and she and her family, as always, are gracious hosts. Thanks also for coming to the race! The friendly faces among 7,000 participants was fantastic. I finished the half marathon in 1 hour and 43 minutes, one minute faster than last year. I finally broke the sub 8-minute mile pace and ran a 7:55 mile pace for the event. I finished 318 out of 3,819 half-marathoners and 40 out of 235 males my age. Overall, I’m pleased!

Enchiladas, games, a lesson and just an all around great get together. That was FHE this month in a nutshell. Thanks again to EVERYONE for coming to the race and cheering me on. It truly meant a lot and I appreciate the support. I’ll post some race pics once folks who had cameras actually email them to me.

Just wanted to give Pa and all our two bits. The very last poem that Uncle Barry gave was my favorite. It talked about a Ship sailing off toward the horizon and though “I” could no longer see the ship, it continued on its journey, the same hole ship that it was before. I love Barry and will have to email Pa about some of our conversations. The funeral was amazing and how could it have not been; given the fact it was about an amazing Lady. Here are some pictures…

Well, we are finally back from Colorado. It was long and emotional, but well worth it. All the girls drove out with Mother in Kathy’s mini-van. We had a great time together and visited a lot. We got to Grandpa’s house at about 5:30 pm. Grandpa is doing OK and it was great to be able to spend time with him. Aunt Elaine is completely worn out and needs a break. The next day we dragged Grandpa all around getting things done for the funeral. He was not too thrilled with planning the funeral OR being dragged around everywhere, but we buttered him up with a Snickers. The funeral was on Saturday and it was really nice. ALL the Grandkids sang “I Am a Child of God” for the opening song. Grandpa said we looked like a bunch of old people up there….thanks a lot Grandpa!!!! It was neat to have all the Grandkids up there singing together. Aunt Susan, Mother, Aunt Elaine, Uncle Larry, and Barry Schideler all spoke and Uncle Sam sang 3 songs that were beautiful. The casket was a plain and wooden….it reminded me a lot of Aunt Jeannie’s. Then after the family luncheon, the girls all drove home with JJ in tow. Check out the photo’s on Flickr.
