Sweet Victory!

Sure, it’s only the third time in 12 years, but this one came on Easter. Yes, miracles truly do happen in our time!

Eggscellent Easter!

Just a few pics from the weekend. Congrats to Rod and Jenny on their new lil’ guy, who we all know will be named Andy, because, like, that’s the coolest name ever. Well, that and Fredo. Andy Fredo Cook has a nice ring to it.

Blast from the past

One of my friends was asking me the other day how Andy started writing movie reviews and I got to talking about the Statesman and what he used to write there.  I came across this article and I have to say that it made me smile.  Click here and enjoy.

just for fun

It’s been a little quiet on the blog lately.  Just because the fossils are home doesn’t mean we have to stop.  So, here’s the quote of the day.  Who said:  “It’ll all work out”.  Hint, there could be more than one answer and it’s not from a movie.

Happy Valentines!

I’m BACK! It is so fun to get to give you all the hugs in person. I hope I don’t wear out my welcome. Kiss your SWEETHEARTS or your mom which ever is appropriate.

Just in the Nick of Time

Dwight gets home on February 6th, just in time for a new beverage to hit the shelves of the supermarkets. Yes, cherry chocolaty goodness straight from the Doctor. Check it below, yo.

Whatever

Andy, this is a way SWEET web site!!!!! It looks awesome and is awesome. Great new look and layout. Thanks for doing it. Now, if we can just keep the girly stuff to a minimum, like Jane Freaking Austen.

My Movie Picks for 2007

You were probably expecting this post to be from Andy…hope it’s OK that I tread on his turf. I thought I would post a list of movies that probably won’t win an Oscar, but that I simply ENJOYED watching and will watch more than once…..

12. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA…GOOD story based on a children’s novel…if you’re going to see this get your tissues ready
11. NANCY DREW…a fun story based on a series of children’s books…just a good-old-fashioned mystery…the Roberts girls does a great job as Nancy.
10. DISTURBIA…loosely based off of “Rear Window” this is movie had me scared!!
9. LUCKY YOU…sappy love story in which I learned a lot about POKER! And, boy I enjoyed looking into Eric Bana’s eyes!!!
8. STARDUST…I wasn’t expecting to like this movie, but it was fun and creative and we all enjoyed it.
7. WAITRESS…Tonya and I went to see this movie and we both really enjoyed it…it’s for the older crowd so don’t take your kids.
6. HARRY POTTER 5…one of the best of the series, Professor Umbrige is sooooo evil!!! And the twins ROCK!
5. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD…I am a closet action-movie-junkie. I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but it was a fun to watch even if some of the action sequences were a little unrealistic.
4. NATIONAL TREASURE 2…every bit as fun as the first and very creative.
3. BOURNE ULTIMATUM…Best action movie of the year….keeps you engaged from start to finish.
2. JUNO…this was an awesome show we saw as a result of one of the DVD screeners sent to Andy….very touching and heartwarming…because the subject matter is a pregnant teen it is not for kids.
1. ENCHANTED…this was funny, creative, romantic, sweet and just plain fun! If you haven’t seen it yet you MUST!

Honorable Mention: This was not a big-screen movie, but one made for TV….the latest version of JANE EYRE proved to be the best version yet!!!! It was made by the BBC and is on PBS or you can rent/buy it (also Mother owns it.)

Jazz SPANK Lakers

Carlos Boozer was out with an ankle injury and Mehmet Okur had back spasms. That’s 37 points right there. Instead, everybody steps up to totally humiliate the LA Lakers. I think Kobe Bryant is a whiny you-know-what, so I couldn’t have been happier. Check out ESPN for the hightlights and then go to NBA.com and vote for our Jazz boys to go to the All-Star game. Also, the NBA has some nice TV spots running. You can watch them here. Look for Jerry Sloan in the “Where Immovable Happens.”
