Masterpiece Theatre: The Complete Jane Austen

complete-jane-austen.jpg

YES!! My prayers have been answered! All of the 6 novels written by Jane Austen have now been adapted for the small screen. Some of them we have already seen and some are new and we even get a bio-pic of the lady herself, Jane Austen. Each Sunday night at 8 PM you can bet you’ll know where I will be….curled up on my bed with a de-caf diet Coke and piece of chocolate watching KUED!!! If you didn’t watch last week you missed her last novel, Persuasion. But don’t worry…there is still A LOT of Jane Austen to come….

Quote of the Day

Name the movie from which this quote derives……

“The great thing is to have lots of love about. I don’t see… at least I don’t see here, though I did at home, that it matters who loves as long as somebody does. I was a stingy beast at home, and used to measure and count. I had a queer obsession about justice. As though justice mattered. As though justice can really be distinguished from vengeance. It’s only love that’s any good. At home I wouldn’t love (my husband) unless he loved me back, exactly as much, absolute fairness. Did you ever. And as he didn’t, neither did I. Oh the emptiness of it all!”

My Movie Picks for 2007

You were probably expecting this post to be from Andy…hope it’s OK that I tread on his turf. I thought I would post a list of movies that probably won’t win an Oscar, but that I simply ENJOYED watching and will watch more than once…..

12. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA…GOOD story based on a children’s novel…if you’re going to see this get your tissues ready
11. NANCY DREW…a fun story based on a series of children’s books…just a good-old-fashioned mystery…the Roberts girls does a great job as Nancy.
10. DISTURBIA…loosely based off of “Rear Window” this is movie had me scared!!
9. LUCKY YOU…sappy love story in which I learned a lot about POKER! And, boy I enjoyed looking into Eric Bana’s eyes!!!
8. STARDUST…I wasn’t expecting to like this movie, but it was fun and creative and we all enjoyed it.
7. WAITRESS…Tonya and I went to see this movie and we both really enjoyed it…it’s for the older crowd so don’t take your kids.
6. HARRY POTTER 5…one of the best of the series, Professor Umbrige is sooooo evil!!! And the twins ROCK!
5. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD…I am a closet action-movie-junkie. I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but it was a fun to watch even if some of the action sequences were a little unrealistic.
4. NATIONAL TREASURE 2…every bit as fun as the first and very creative.
3. BOURNE ULTIMATUM…Best action movie of the year….keeps you engaged from start to finish.
2. JUNO…this was an awesome show we saw as a result of one of the DVD screeners sent to Andy….very touching and heartwarming…because the subject matter is a pregnant teen it is not for kids.
1. ENCHANTED…this was funny, creative, romantic, sweet and just plain fun! If you haven’t seen it yet you MUST!

Honorable Mention: This was not a big-screen movie, but one made for TV….the latest version of JANE EYRE proved to be the best version yet!!!! It was made by the BBC and is on PBS or you can rent/buy it (also Mother owns it.)

We’re All In This Together….

…Once we know
That we are
We’re all stars
And we see that
We’re all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come true!
Emma and I had so much fun at the “High School Musical on Ice” show Friday night! We sang, danced, watched and just had a gay old time! Here are a few photos….

Who said it….

Where can you find this famous quote?

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”

Happy Halloween!

Emma was a HSM Cheerleader/Zombie Cheerleader and Sam was a Power Ranger.  Notice Sam with the dark hair….doesn’t look like our Sam that is for sure!  Doesn’t Andy look hot in his red jacket!  Thanks to the Browns for coming over and sharing cinnamon rolls with us!

Hotel Fossil….

Hey, with Tonya popping a kid out any day now….we are all going to have to help out a little with the Fossil’s house. Just a couple reminders that will help Tonya help the Fossil’s keep their house in one piece. Before you leave…no matter how long you stayed…please be sure to check the following…

*The garbages are empty (it can get kinda stinky if they aren’t)

*The heat is turned down to 60 (we’ve all got to do what we can for the environment)

*All window’s are closed (I know you stunk up the bathroom and wanted to air it out…THANK YOU…but now please close the window so the snow doesn’t get in the house :-) )
*The water in the Laundry room has been turned off

*All doors are locked (we gotta protect all those clocks the fossils have purchased over the years)

*Leave with a smile…hope you enjoyed your stay at Hotel Fossil

The house looks awesome and is in great shape…thanks for helping to keep it standing….only 4 months left and then our cook, slave, housekeeper, room-service provider will be back….and she’ll bring her husband too! :-)

LDS Conference Time

Well folks, it’s once again that time of year. I was thinking this afternoon while listening to conference about when we were kids. Mother would take us down to get a ceramic to paint. We would break out the blocks and see how high we could stack them before they’d topple to the floor. Father would have the “PIP” on, flipping through the other stations while “listening” to conference. Good memories! What are your favorite conference memories?
