My thoughts on Grandmother Cook

What a celebration she has had with her sole mate. The one she has held in her heart all these years. I quietly asked her if it was a good enough celebration that I would not have to have that talk with Heavenly Father, I told her I would. I also thought about how Uncle Kent needed to go when he did, he had allot of catching up to do with his Father so he would know him better before his Mother returned. I also thought how Grandmother needed to be here to represent her family since her spouse wasn’t able to. What a wonderful lady and a wonderful life she lead for all of us. I remember what a great cook I thought she was. I remember Sugar Cookies and Peanut Butter in the coffee tins when we would visit. I remember Pink Popcorn for the 4th of July celebration. Also, the best was you would wake up to the smell of pancakes early in the morning. She would make them every day for Uncle Kent because he loved them. She always served the pancakes with Tang in the mini cups from cheese wiz. I remember playing games with her and also her Mother (which she was allot of fun as well). Games were what we did. Also as a child we would play Dr. and office because she always had the special pink papers from her work. The fun desk and chair. We would get all dressed up and walk around the block in her cute close she had for us. Also we would enjoy making necklaces or coloring. She loved her family, all of us and let us know with love. She entertained us well, took care of us on our visit. There was always treats. She loved gum. She loved the gospel and believed it with all of her heart. She loved serving in the church and going out to serve. She loved to visit and be with us all. Loved hugs and kisses on the cheek. What a great lady, raised her family in the best way she knew how and brought them up strong in the gospel. They served missions, married in the temple and raised there families in the gospel. She made the best of her life. Had a great smile and laughed often. Most didn’t know her health problem after Uncle Kent because she didn’t complain. I loved visiting her and having celebrations with her and the family. Going over the canyon, seeing the temple, Christmas lights in Main, knowing we would be there shortly. I love this little lady and admire her and the life she lead. She was compulsive, had everything in its place, tidy, clean and was a perfectionist, but in a good way. We all have become a little bit like her and for that I am greatful. Love you Grandmother and I know you are enjoying your new life style. Know that you will be missed here on earth but it won’t be long and we will all see you again. Love, Tonya

My favorite memory of Grandma is that she always called me Amy Doll. It always made me feel so cute and special. She would even write it on my Birthday cards. I remember ridding in the car with her to family functions. She would always reach out and hold my hand and comment about how warm my hands were. Hers were always so cold. One of my favorite memories was a time we were sitting in church and Grandma commented about how drafty it was. She said “I wish women could wear pants to church.” Then she gasped and giggled like a child who knows they just did something wrong. She was like, “What would Loyal say if he heard me say something like that?” Then she giggled a little more at her BOLD comment. Grandma is someone that I look up to. I hope that I can continue to learn from her. She had so much faith which is a something that I am working on having. I am grateful for the special times that I got to have with her before she passed away and know that she is happy where she is. With her Loyal in a place where she can watch over her family. I will always love my sweet Grandma.

Those are all very nice memories you posted. She was always so nice to me, as well. Always called me “scalywag” and asked how my sister Mary was doing.
