You were probably expecting this post to be from Andy…hope it’s OK that I tread on his turf. I thought I would post a list of movies that probably won’t win an Oscar, but that I simply ENJOYED watching and will watch more than once…..
12. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA…GOOD story based on a children’s novel…if you’re going to see this get your tissues ready
11. NANCY DREW…a fun story based on a series of children’s books…just a good-old-fashioned mystery…the Roberts girls does a great job as Nancy.
10. DISTURBIA…loosely based off of “Rear Window” this is movie had me scared!!
9. LUCKY YOU…sappy love story in which I learned a lot about POKER! And, boy I enjoyed looking into Eric Bana’s eyes!!!
8. STARDUST…I wasn’t expecting to like this movie, but it was fun and creative and we all enjoyed it.
7. WAITRESS…Tonya and I went to see this movie and we both really enjoyed it…it’s for the older crowd so don’t take your kids.
6. HARRY POTTER 5…one of the best of the series, Professor Umbrige is sooooo evil!!! And the twins ROCK!
5. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD…I am a closet action-movie-junkie. I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but it was a fun to watch even if some of the action sequences were a little unrealistic.
4. NATIONAL TREASURE 2…every bit as fun as the first and very creative.
3. BOURNE ULTIMATUM…Best action movie of the year….keeps you engaged from start to finish.
2. JUNO…this was an awesome show we saw as a result of one of the DVD screeners sent to Andy….very touching and heartwarming…because the subject matter is a pregnant teen it is not for kids.
1. ENCHANTED…this was funny, creative, romantic, sweet and just plain fun! If you haven’t seen it yet you MUST!
Honorable Mention: This was not a big-screen movie, but one made for TV….the latest version of JANE EYRE proved to be the best version yet!!!! It was made by the BBC and is on PBS or you can rent/buy it (also Mother owns it.)
I agree with all but Bridge to Tarabithia!! That show is great for someone who would love to slit their wrists!! That movie would just help them do it!!! Also you went to the movie thinking it was going to be this colorful fairyland, then what do you know, it was as if they were filming in my back yard! PPPPPRRRRRRRTTTTTTTT!!!!!!! Two thumbs down to the movie that made my seven year old cry and taught my 3 year old about death!!
I am writing down the list so pa and I won’t have an excuse to be bored when we get home. Thanks for the post and comments.
Mine will be posted tomorrow. Very nice, Sandy. I’d agree with most of these. Maybe we should tag team the movie column from now on and call it “He Said, She Said.” And I agree, the marketing for “Bridge to Terabithia” was way off, but it was still a decent movie.
If you read your assigned reading in school, you would have known what it was about. But Andy is right. The marketing made it look different. I tried to hit to my kids so they wouldn’t be disappointed. I like the list Sandy. They’re all fun movies. Andy usually picks the more serious ones. Maybe you two should hook up, wait you already have. Maybe you should just post together. The final Bourne, was excellent and I also enjoyed the Live Free or Die Hard. That was fun. I enjoyed the whole series except the 3rd one. That one was a little slow and tried too hard.
Sandy, you guys are so much fun. I think it would be so funny to do a He said, She said coulum in 2008. Sandy you could seriously pull it off.
