HAPPY NEW YEAR!

pict8333.JPGpict8322.JPGpict4201.JPGpict4173.JPG2007 was a great year in many ways and not so good in other ways. We got new little TJ, Boyd started a GREAT new business, many of you got raises, Humble sold his practice, Rod passed the CPA exam and pa and I made it through the whole year on our mission. We did lose Grandma, dad moved from the old place, Rod and Boyd had wrecks, but every one is healthy, we have another new baby in the works, the Gospel is True, and we have so very many blessings. I’m looking forward to a GREAT 2008! Be safe and Happy New year to you all. This is what we did on New Years EVE, we went to the burned village and these are the new houses and the old ones. The village people were very happy and so are we.

Sledding in Hyrum

I took the kids sledding today and we had a blast. Sam was the brave one this time around and Emma was a little recalcitrant to go full bore. I still can’t feel my toes, but I did get to eat Oreos and drink hot chocolate after. I figured adding another one or two pounds to the holiday five (or six…or seven) would be A-OK. Happy New Year!

My Movie Picks for 2007

You were probably expecting this post to be from Andy…hope it’s OK that I tread on his turf. I thought I would post a list of movies that probably won’t win an Oscar, but that I simply ENJOYED watching and will watch more than once…..

12. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA…GOOD story based on a children’s novel…if you’re going to see this get your tissues ready
11. NANCY DREW…a fun story based on a series of children’s books…just a good-old-fashioned mystery…the Roberts girls does a great job as Nancy.
10. DISTURBIA…loosely based off of “Rear Window” this is movie had me scared!!
9. LUCKY YOU…sappy love story in which I learned a lot about POKER! And, boy I enjoyed looking into Eric Bana’s eyes!!!
8. STARDUST…I wasn’t expecting to like this movie, but it was fun and creative and we all enjoyed it.
7. WAITRESS…Tonya and I went to see this movie and we both really enjoyed it…it’s for the older crowd so don’t take your kids.
6. HARRY POTTER 5…one of the best of the series, Professor Umbrige is sooooo evil!!! And the twins ROCK!
5. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD…I am a closet action-movie-junkie. I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but it was a fun to watch even if some of the action sequences were a little unrealistic.
4. NATIONAL TREASURE 2…every bit as fun as the first and very creative.
3. BOURNE ULTIMATUM…Best action movie of the year….keeps you engaged from start to finish.
2. JUNO…this was an awesome show we saw as a result of one of the DVD screeners sent to Andy….very touching and heartwarming…because the subject matter is a pregnant teen it is not for kids.
1. ENCHANTED…this was funny, creative, romantic, sweet and just plain fun! If you haven’t seen it yet you MUST!

Honorable Mention: This was not a big-screen movie, but one made for TV….the latest version of JANE EYRE proved to be the best version yet!!!! It was made by the BBC and is on PBS or you can rent/buy it (also Mother owns it.)

Christmas

OK, here are our pictures. Hopefully we win the “great” prize.

Viva La Pictures! Christmas Hijinx in Hyrum!

The sun poked one sliver of light over the mountains and the kids were up and ready to rip! We had a nice, travel-free, lazy Christmas morning. Grandpa Dan came up in the afternoon with Mary and Jeannie for turkey dinner and more presents. And yes, we got Rockband. And yes, it was a Christmas miracle. And yes, it’s the most excited I’ve been since I got the Millennium Falcon when I was seven. I hope everyone else had a wonderful day!

PS - Yeah, someone read the blog and bought me that “Don’t Tase Me, Bro!” t-shirt. Thanks Emma (SANDY!!)!

February Family Home Evening

We are having a PART-TAY at the Finsands the night of February 6th. I wonder why??? Hahahahaaa… Ma and Pa will be coming home at 6:32 pm. Plan on coming over to the Finsand’s for food and fun following their arrival. Don’t worry about the food. All Father said he wanted was a lump of coal…and some hugs. Pictures and labels would be helpful to Grandpa so he knows what to call everyone when he gets here. The kids have changed a ton since they have been gone. See the Dwight Cook Family pictures for details under the “about” tab.

The Party was GREAT thanks.

How fun it was to see and talk to all of you! I thought that Jonses were crazy for getting us a web cam this late in our mission but I am so glad they did just for that one party. It was fun to finally see our littlest one moving and so cute. Please still send us more pictures of the party Andy or who ever took them because that would still be well appreciated. Only one more day kids! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks Howard!

With the Iowa primary around the corner, I remembered this clip of Howard Dean when he won the Iowa primary. Oh, Howard. So sad.
