LB Cook Reunion

The LB Cook Reunion was a good one; too bad we missed so many of you. Brett did an awesome job on the program. It was about Grandpa Loyal and his journal that he wrote prior to marrying Grandmother. You should all be receiving a bound copy of it. I have read a lot of it, from Sandy’s copy as well as from the copy Brett gave us. It cracks me up. He was quite the man. It reminds me of the old time movies. Brett pointed out some pretty funny stories and we talked a little about what Grandfather Cook must have been going through at different stages in his life. He is an awesome example of a loving husband and his journal shows how much he loves Grandma. Anyway, all of Aunt Deanna’s family was there except Brea, Nicole and Lori. Kim and I were the only ones there from our family. Patricia and Kelly were there. All of Uncle Stott’s family was there. The Hulmes were missing Loyal, Uncle Charles, and Heidi. Grandma was there in the morning and it was great to see her.

We missed you and hope to see you next year. Love, Boyd and Nat

Pioneer Day in SLC

We drove down to SLC on Monday to pick up Barb’s car, take Emma school shopping and help Kathy and Humble set up flags for Pioneer Day. Thanks to Kathy and Humble for being gracious hosts, as always. Below are some photos of the kids doing their kid things, which at the present time includes oodles of Harry Potter hijinx, and a shot of Sandy and Kathy during our hoppin’ Monday night shenanigans.

My Five

So, Emma and I are going to see “No Reservations” tomorrow at a press screening, which got me thinking, since summer is a month away from officially closing, what are some of the fall movie releases I’m looking forward to? Here’s my five.

Sunshine

The Bourne Ultimatum

Death at a Funeral

In the Valley of Elah

Gone Baby Gone

Sam & Andy

Sandy is going to post some pictures of the reunion, just as soon as she finishes reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which she started this evening at 4:30 and which she is still reading now at 12:20 AM. Anyhoo, here’s a snapshot of Sam and me because we’re both wearing Spiderman tee shirts. The other is of Sam and his other bedroom.

Reunion

I am so excited for the reunion. I can’t wait to see all of you. I hope you will all have fun. If you have any questions I won’t be leaving until Tuesday morning, so call. Please remember your posters and assignments. I look forward to playing with you all.

Cafe Rio Rice

Okay…as requested here is how to make the Cafe Rio rice.  Please keep in mind that Kim is making this for the reunion, but here it is so you can have it.

8 cups water

8 chicken bouillon cubes

2 tsp cumin

4 cloves garlic (minced)

12 chopped green onions

2 T butter

12 sprigs celontro

4 cups rice

Heat water in a large pot and add remaining ingredients ending with the rice.  Bring to a simmer and cook until done.  About 20 minutes.  Fluff rice and serve.

It makes a ton…so be ready.

Thanks~
