Sunny Saturday in SLC

I’m reviewing the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” or “TMNT” for the Herald Journal this Friday. I asked Emma if she wanted to go and she looked at me like I asked her to play with GIJOE or something. So, Sam gladly took his sister’s place and we headed down to Salt Lake City and stayed at Hotel Finsand on Friday night. On Saturday, Sam and I hit up the movie and Emma and Sandy went to the children’s museum at the Gateway. Couple that with great weather, some shopping and dinner at Red Robin and it was a pleasant trip. Thanks again to Kathy and family for allowing us to crash (and taking me to the gym in the morning so I could sweat off all the Girl Scout Samoas I ate the night before).

Buddhist Funeral

pict5188.JPG

Phonsavanh, one of DIC’s most important contacts in the Lao government died suddenly last week. He was only 44. He was in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and responsible for approving all projects of international NGO’s. He highly respected DIC and quickly approved any project which we wanted to do. He was well respected among those he worked with. The school in his hometown was demolished by a bad storm and DIC funded the rebuild. He went with us for the handover and we found that the people of his hometown held him in high esteem. He was kind of the local boy that made good. He will be missed. Family Reunion

It’s official, the Reunion (D&B Reunion, to be exact) will be held at the cabin on July 16-22. Everyone who can come, is welcome for the whole week. Reunion activities will officially begin, as usual, on Thursday night, the 19th. We will end on Sunday. Those wishing to go to church, I will get the time for you. More information, of course, will follow. I hope everyone will be able to make it for some time. This seemed to be the best time for the most people. Get it on the calendar, you won’t want to miss it.

Episode VII: Return of the Nerds

George Lucas should take a lesson from these two nerds. This, my friends, is a lightsaber duel. I mean, I like Star Wars, but wow, this is taking nerdship to a whole new level.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Kaden is officially a Cub Scout. He got his Bobcat at the Blue and Gold, his first pack meeting. He loves scouts, so far. I think you are now, all up to date.

At the Park

It was so nice yesterday, we went to the park. It was so much fun. We all have spring fever. And just so you know, Andy said I could do this because I’m too chicken to learn flickr.

Kaden’s Basketball

He had so much fun this year. He struggled a little because his Dad put him in a higher group, but it was a good learning experience.
