It’s only taken 10 years but Sandy Morgan has finally succeeded in making an edible Pot Roast!!!! Thanks to Jenny for her step-by-step instructions on roasting a Pot Roast and making gravy. Sandy’s family is now sitting satisfied on the couch with a belly full of the most tender Pot Roast you’ve ever tasted and most savory gravy ever made! Everyone enjoyed the meal at the Morgan house tonight! Thanks Jenny!!

Why aren’t people afraid of America anymore, especially crazy North Korea dictators and terrorists? Well, if you watch this video, you’ll see we only have one person to blame: Madeleine Albright.

Looks like the first reviews for “Flags of Our Fathers” are coming in and the word is A+. Currently there are six reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.com and only one is negative. You can read Todd McCarthy’s Variety.com review by clicking here. Also, if you haven’t seen the trailer, click here to watch it on Yahoo.
Just when I was hating Lao because I was so hot and miserable the spirit did come. We went to see a phenomenon where light comes out of the river on the 1st full moon of Oct. We went with some teacher that the other couples work with. He took us to one of the students homes where they fed us (Lao food of course which is the same every where, fish soup, poppy eye salad, vegies on the grill, sticky noodles instead of rice this time, etc). They didn’t know us from Adam but they treated us like family. We shared our tuna sandwiches, fruit and cookies with them and it was great fun. Every Lao I swear thinks that they can sing and play the keyboard and guitar and it is usually the same 2 chords over and over. It is hilarious! They also dance at every dinner! Any way after that we went down to the river with all the other hundreds of Lao people who were picnicing with their families and friends. Each little group tried to share with us. They ask us to eat with them, have a beer with them, share their mats with them and they had never seen us before. That is just how they are and most of them are dirt poor. I left there with a great love for these humble people. They send their wishes for better times in these little boats with candles in them down the river and it was a beautiful evening. One more experience. There is a girl from Utah who served a mission in Thailand that has interpreted for us the last 2 Sundays. Father had mentioned it in his journal and Aunt Susan read it and recognized the name as one of the Sisters that had served here with her and Harold. Margo was so excited and she said that Sue and Harold were their angeles when they served in their area. Isn’t that weird that she would visit here when we were here? I’m much better than my last time writing. Love you all and thanks for the love and encouragement.
Emma’s baptism was one of the most spiritual days of my life. I was very proud to both baptize and confirm Emma. I appreciate all of your kind hearts, your testimonies and your willingness to support our little family, especially my dad, Suzanne, my mom and sisters. Thanks. You truly all are great people.
We just got back from walking down by the river to see the festival. I left before every one else. You know how I am shopping at those booths of JUNK and here sick food. I’m not even good at the fair but 90% humidity in 90 degree temperature, that is not for me. We will go to the boat races tomorrow with the Gov. officials and that might be fun but the carnival was just toooo much. I miss being at the baptism and watching all of youplay games and enjoy each other. I am trying not to think of you all to much and when I’m busy I do fine but the walk home from the sick carnival made me miss you. Any way here are some pictures so you will know what I’m talking about.

Maybe the planets were all lined up last night, or perhaps a theater worker slipped some hallucinogenic drugs into my Diet Coke. Whatever the case may be, I ended liking the new comedy “Employee of the Month” - a movie, which based on its trailer, made repeat viewings of “The Benchwarmers” or an actual, physical flogging preferable and more rewarding.
“Employee of the Month” comes to the big-screen by way of director Greg Coolidge, whose only notable film in recent memory was “Sorority Boys.” And when I say notable, I really mean worthless and completely void of any humor. Way to rise from the ashes, Greg, especially with a cast of newbie headliners like Dane Cook (“Waiting”), Dax Shepard (“Without a Paddle”) and chick-of-all-trades, Jessica Simpson (“The Dukes of Hazzard”).
The movie is set in a big-box Costco/Sam’s Club type of store in what could be Anytown, USA. We’ve all been to these stores, so when we see shoppers buying 12 gallons of hair gel, a 100 can case of non-descript, white-label beer, as well as the world’s biggest box of Velveeta cheese, well, we laugh because it’s true. We also laugh because we can relate to the main character, Zack (Dane Cook), because we’ve all been in one of those dead-end jobs going nowhere fast.
Zack has mastered the art of going to work, but not really working. He and his friends – Russell (Harland Williams), Lon (Andy Dick) and Iqbal (Brian George) – have each other’s back at work and spend their days playing Texas Hold ‘Em in a “lounge” they built high above the store between the food processors and diapers. They also spend their time despising – with good reason, mind you – the store’s golden boy, Vince (Dax Shepard) and his “wingman” Jorge (Efren Ramirez). You see, Vince has just won employee of the month for the 17th month in-a-row. How hard is it to hate a guy like that?
In any regard, the store manager explains that Vince will go into the Super-Club Hall-of-Fame if he wins his 18th employee of the month award, but he also adds that November’s winner will also get a “newish” Chevy Malibu. Obviously Vince thinks the car and the award are in the bag because he’s been unchallenged for so long. That is, until Amy (Jessica Simpson) transfers to the store.
Zack is immediately awestruck by Amy and it rankles him that she seems to gravitate towards Vince. It also irritates him that Vince likes to point out in front of Amy that Zack is the “lowest of low” because he is a box boy. So, after Russell bribes the store’s HR lady with some Butterfinger candy bars, the group discovers that Amy has a thing for guys that win employee of the month. Zack decides he will win employee of the month and likewise win Amy’s affection.
The movie gravitates towards the clichéd comedy from time-to-time with Zack’s quest to become employee of the month, but never slips too far from its core humor, which is great delivery and great writing. I worried, after seeing the trailer and Jessica Simpson’s faux big ears, “Employee of the Month” would be a physical comedy, playing off sight gags, but the movie is pushed by its supporting cast and great comedic performances by both Dane Cook and Dax Shepard.
“Employee of the Month” is definitely worth the full-price ticket and probably the most enjoyable movie I’ve watched this autumn. It’s probably more geared toward the MTV generation and embraces its PG-13 rating with gusto.
Below is a map of the Stake Center (245 Apple Drive) where Emma’s baptism will be on Saturday at 10AM sharp. Remember, afterwords we will be having a potato bar and other hijinx at the Fossil Homestead. I don’t think I need to refresh any of your navigational senses on how to get there. In any regard, drive safe and we’ll look forward to seeing all who can make it on Saturday.
It was fun going to JD’s football game on Saturday. Even though they lost, JD did a GREAT job and it was a fun beautiful fall day…JD complained about the heat, but it was perfect weather for us watching the game. Here are some pictures…
Here are some pretty girls we saw at the game…
Good job JD…we love you!
Well we watched Saturday conference on BYU tv and I missed all of you and hoped you all got to watch it too. I especially liked Elder Ballards talk of balance in our lives so we don’t have too much stress. You all work so hard at every thing and I love you for it but I also hope you keep things in perspective like he talked about. We will get to watch Sunday conference on Monday. We had a very tiring trip but one with great potential as far as PR for the church. We ate some of the nappiest food you can imagine! We saw beautiful country and lots of water buffalo and cows but no Elephants. This is the time of year they work them in the timber so they were all up higher in the mountains. We stayed in the sme places that the Prime Minister of the country stays when he visits and believe me they neede a clean job from our standards but I kept telling myself this is their very best and I need to appreciate their sacrifice for us. Especially the food, some of which looked just like the girls mud pies at the cabin and I do not exagerate. The roads in the pickups were worse than the one up Prov Canyon and our guy was ‘three sheets to the wind’ by the time we left and we flew over most of the bumps. Every muscle is still feeling it. Quite an experience. What a difference freedom makes! Thailand has twice as good schools and roads and it is because of a wize king many years ago. We had a wonderful Fast and Testimony meeting today. We had an interpretor so we actually knew what they were saying and most of the Lao people that had been recently baptized bore their testimonies and they were so sweet and sincere. They all said how happy the gospel has made them and that they feel much more worthwhile and loved now. It was very much full of the spirit. Well I know pa has sent his journal so that is all for now. I love you all so much and am very proud of all of you.
